The Provincial Government of Surigao del Sur thru the Provincial Tourism Office joined the 23rd National Convention of the Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines (ATOP) held at Taal Vista Hotel, Tagaytay City last October 26-29, 2022 with the theme, “Rethinking Tourism”.

This year's event was the first face-to-face convention since pandemic which made it extra special and exciting. Tourism Officers and Public Officials nationwide gathered to promote camaraderie and unity in promoting and boosting the Tourism Industry of the Philippines.

Among the Guest Speakers were the Department of Tourism-OIC Asst. Secretary for Tourism Development, Mr. Warner M. Andrada and Ms. Nelly Nita Dillera, DTI Philippines Executive Director shared that the tourist arrivals dropped undeniably not only in our country but also internationally because of the pandemic. This explains the theme of World Tourism Organization that indeed there is a need to rise up, reskill and transform the overall tourist experience.

To top it all, this convention enables the delegates to capacitate themselves especially in today’s rampant change in the industry where capacitated tourism movers from all sectors is a must in order to enhance and improve the delivery process of all services that the tourism industry offers.
