No To Single-Use Plastics
LOOK: Ms. Daisy Jane P. Vete, Community Development Assistant l of the City Government of Tandag conducted Ecological Solid Waste Management Program (ESWMP) Orientation last September 23, 2022 at the TSP Session Hall, Legislative Bldg., Capitol Hills, Telaje, Tandag City.
Ms. Vete gave discussion on zero waste management and emphasized the importance of not using the single-use plastics in compliance also with the City Ordinance No. 001-2020. During the orientation, some of the Vice Governor's Office and Tanggapan ng Sangguniang Panlalawigan employees raised questions such as the burning of dried leaves which is a common afternoon practice. Ms. Vete cited the law prohibition in doing such as per RA 9003 otherwise known as the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000 which provides the necessary policy framework, institutional mechanisms and mandate to the local government units (LGUs) to achieve 25% waste reduction through establishing an integrated solid waste management plan.
In general, the orientation was successfully done.
