WORLD TOURISM DAY CELEBRATION 09-28-29-2022
World Tourism Day is celebrated every 27th of September commencing in the year 1980 to coincide with the anniversary of the adoption of UNWTO Statutes. One of its purpose is to provide awareness of the importance of Tourism and its social, cultural,environmental and political impact to the community. Through this celebration, the Tourism Industry will be able to present and flaunt its contribution to the development and improvement of the economic status of their respective community and as well as to the conservation of its culture and tradition.
Anent to this, the Provincial Tourism Office of SurSur celebrated the World Tourism Day last September 28-29, 2022 at Provincial Capitol Lobby, Capitol Hills, Brgy. Telaje, Tandag City to commemorate the contribution of the Indigenous Peoples of SurSur as we assess and re-calibrate on how we better manage the impacts of tourism to the economic recovery of the industry in line with this year’s theme, “Rethinking Tourism”.
During the 2-day activity, the IPs from the identified communities of the Province namely Brgy. Bayogo, Madrid, SDS, Brgy. Castillo, San Miguel, SDS, Sitio Mam-on, Brgy.Tubo-tubo, Cagwait, SDS and Sitio Ibuan, Brgy. Mampi, Lanuza, SDS were able to demonstrate and display their Beadworks product and earned ₱5,620.00, ₱2,800.00, ₱2,105.00 and ₱4,240.00 respectively. They were also able to attend the Lectures on How to Start a Small Business from Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and People’s Organization and Registration from Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). They also enjoyed different services such as manicure/pedicure, haircut and massage offered by TESDA.
