The Provincial Government of Surigao del Sur through the leadership of Governor Alexander T. Pimentel bagged the National Award for being "Beyond Compliant" for the Gawad KALASAG Seal for Local DRRM Councils and Offices. The following are the list of awarded Cities/Municipalities of the Province of Surigao del Sur; to wit: the Municipalities of Carrascal, Cortes, Lanuza, Marihatag, Tagbina, Hinatuan, Cagwait awarded as "Beyond Compliant"; the City Government of Bislig and Tandag as well as the Municipalities of Cantilan, Barobo, Bayabas, Carmen, Madrid, San Agustin, and San Miguel conferred as "Fully Compliant".
