Infant and Young Child Feeding- Emergencies Training for Local Nutrition Workers
Last November 8–10, 2022, at Bislig Highland Function Farm and Villa, Bislig City, Surigao del Sur, the Provincial Governor's Office- Nutrition Division and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office headed by Mr. Alex Aranas conducted training on Infant and Young Child Feeding– Emergencies for Local Nutrition Workers to raise awareness about the importance of breastfeeding, especially during emergencies.
This exercise is in keeping with the goals of supporting and promoting the First 1000 Days Program, which seeks to guarantee optimal nutrition for infants and children from conception 2 years of age. All types of malnutrition, including underweight, stunting, wasting, and obesity, can be cured within the first 1000 days.
Infant and Young Child Feeding in Emergencies (IYCF-E) is concerned with ensuring that infants and young children receive safe and appropriate nutrition in all types of emergencies in order to ensure their survival, health, and development. It must be incorporated into the emergency preparedness and response strategies and calls for the cooperation of numerous specialties.
City/Municipal Nutrition Action Officers and Provincial Nutrition Committee representatives attended the aforementioned course.
It is indeed grateful that funds were allocated for IYCF-E training for local nutritionists by our Honorable Governor, Alexander T. Pimentel, and the Provincial Risk Reduction Management Office, which is headed by Mr. Alex Aranas.
