Surra Surveillance - Municipality of Cortes, Surigao del Sur
November 22, 2022- The Provincial Veterinary Office Surveillance Team led by Dr. Coney Galela, together with the Municipal Agriculture Office of Cortes headed by Mr. Gil Escalante, conducted blood sampling, vitamin supplementation, deworming and animal consultation to large ruminants, particularly carabaos of selected barangays from the Municipality of Cortes, Surigao del Sur. A total of 64 blood samples were collected and then brought to the Regional Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (RADDL) for laboratory testing. This procedure is one way of monitoring the presence of SURRA disease in the province.
