VOW to end VAW!
On November 25, 2022, the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office of Surigao del Sur, under the direction of Governor Alexander T. Pimentel, launched the 18-day Campaign to End Violence Against Women. It started with a motorcade and ended with a quick program in the Provincial Capitol's lobby. Representatives from a number of offices and partner organizations, including the Philippine National Police, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, as well as media partners (TNTV6, Radyo ng Bayan, and PIA), attended.
The newly recurring theme "UNiTEd for a VAW-free Philippines" highlights the enormous impact of collaborative efforts in the direction of a VAW-free Philippines.
During her message, Ms. Hershe Lorenzana-Nuñez, the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer, emphasized that there is no excuse for violence. She continued by saying that everyone is accountable for ending violence against women and girls, not just a select few offices or organizations. She also encourages everyone to report violent crimes rather than keeping them hidden.
Everyone is called to join this year's campaign and become an advocate. For downloadable guide, logos, printable, digital collaterals, songs, videos, and Safe Spaces Act posters, click the link https://pcw.gov.ph/2022-18-day-campaign-to-end-violence.../
