Cooperative Leaders Undergo Basic Parliamentary Procedure Training in Surigao del Sur
To strengthen leadership and governance capacity among cooperatives, the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAg), through its Institutional Development Division, successfully conducted a two-day Basic Parliamentary Procedure Training on September 18–19, 2025, for cooperative officers within the 1st District of Surigao del Sur.
The training was designed to equip participants with essential skills in conducting meetings effectively, making sound decisions, and resolving conflicts in a structured and transparent manner. By mastering the fundamental rules of parliamentary procedure—including motions, voting processes, and the preparation of meeting minutes—cooperative officers are expected to foster good governance and sustainable organizational growth.
Serving as the resource person, Mr. Winston S. Salvador, Executive Director of Propegemus Foundation, Inc., facilitated the sessions through a mix of lectures, discussions, and practical activities. His expertise helped guide the participants in applying parliamentary rules to real-life cooperative settings, ensuring that they gained both theoretical knowledge and practical experience.
The participants who took part in the activity, composed of Chairpersons and Secretaries from various cooperatives across the province. The participating cooperatives included: MACAGCO – Carrascal, BTOFCCO – Barobo, MACGACO – Madrid, BAGAWASCO – Barobo, CECO – Carmen, CFACO – Carmen, CLACO – Carmen, Nagmakaayo – Cantilan and PAEMCO – Tandag City.
The OPAg emphasized that the training is part of its continuing effort to empower local cooperatives, recognizing them as vital partners in driving community development and economic resilience across Surigao del Sur.
