BUTUAN CITY — In a continuing effort to promote sustainable and data-driven tourism development, the Provincial Tourism Office of Surigao del Sur proudly participated in the Advanced Tourism Statistics Training (ATST) – Module I, held in Butuan City from October 7 to 9, 2025.

Representing the province were Ms. Leslie Kay T. Romaraog, Tourism Operations Officer II, and Ms. Florence C. Oclarit, Administrative Aide III, who both joined fellow tourism professionals and statistics focal persons from across the Caraga Region for this vital three-day training.

Key sessions covered methods for measuring tourism performance using established indicators and aligning local data practices with both national protocols and international standards. A significant highlight of the event was the session led by experts from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Caraga, who provided deep insights into the Regional Tourism Satellite Account (RTSA), a framework that enables comprehensive measurement of the economic contribution of tourism within the region.

The participation of Ms. Romaraog and Ms. Oclarit underscores the Provincial Tourism Office’s unwavering commitment to capacity building, professional development, and data-driven service delivery. Their involvement reflects not only their personal dedication but also the office’s broader mission to promote sustainable, inclusive, and responsive tourism programs in Surigao del Sur.

As tourism continues to play a crucial role in regional development, strengthening statistical foundations ensures that policies and initiatives are grounded in accurate, timely, and actionable data.

Daghang salamat to Ms. Romaraog and Ms. Oclarit for representing Surigao del Sur with excellence and professionalism. Your dedication serves as an inspiration and a pillar of progress for the local tourism sector.

We are proud of you both. Padayon sa maayong serbisyo!
