Province Conducts Training on Boar Semen Processing to Boost Local Swine Productivity
The Province of Surigao del Sur, through the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAg), conducted a Training on Boar Semen Processing and Extension on November 14, 2025, at the OPAg Training Hall in Telaje, Tandag City. A total of 32 Livestock Technicians and Farmer AI Technicians from various local government units participated.
The training aimed to equip participants with essential competencies in the hygienic handling of boar semen, emphasizing proper processing techniques, quality control, and strict biosecurity protocols. These skills are vital to ensuring the viability, safety, and effectiveness of semen doses used in artificial insemination—a key component in improving breeding efficiency and maintaining healthy swine populations.
By capacitating field personnel with advanced technical knowledge, the initiative seeks to enhance swine reproductive performance and uplift the overall productivity of both backyard and commercial pig farms in Surigao del Sur.
