Coordinated Efforts Boost Coconut Industry Plans
The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAG) successfully conducted a Coconut Consultative Meeting on February 27, 2026, aimed at strengthening coordination and enhancing the province’s coconut industry development initiatives.
The meeting aimed to review current status of coconut production and supply conditions, discuss potential investment opportunities, explore supply consolidation strategies to meet the volume requirements of prospective investors, and establish clear action plans and partnership commitments among stakeholders to ensure a more coordinated and investment-ready coconut sector.
Mr. Alvin C. Cinday, Coconut Development Officer (CCDO) of PCA, presented the current status of coconut production and supply in the province. Further insights on coconut data were provided by Mr. Darwin P. Patriarca, Provincial HVCDP Coordinator, and Municipal Agriculturist Laury P. Lauron in their roles as provincial assessor and data collector, respectively, emphasizing the importance of accurate data validation and monitoring to support investment and planning initiatives.
The activity was attended by Hon. Nestor S. Valeroso, Municipal Mayor of Carmen, and Hon. Jane V. Plaza, Municipal Vice Mayor, together with Municipal/City agriculturists, Project Focal Person, and Municipal/City High Value Crops Development Program (HVCDP) coordinators from Carmen, Cantilan, Carrascal, Cortes, Tandag City, Tago, and San Miguel.
