TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur — In its continuous effort to enhance the skills and knowledge of tourism workers, the Provincial Tourism Office successfully conducted the Basic Tour Guiding Seminar Workshop and Refresher Course from April 15 to 17, 2026.

The three-day training program was designed to strengthen the competencies of tourism frontliners, ensuring they are well-equipped to deliver high-quality service to visitors.

A major highlight of the program was the intensive session on Tour Guide Spiel Development and Refresher Training. Participants were introduced to key topics such as professional ethics and values, the tour cycle, tour itinerary planning, and safety and etiquette reminders. The training emphasized effective storytelling, structured commentary, improved delivery, and audience engagement.

Furthermore, the activity featured the official election and oath-taking of the organization composed of both CTG-trained and non-CTG-trained tour guides who completed the refresher course. This led to the formation of the 𝐓𝐨𝐆𝐀𝐒 – 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐆𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐨 𝐝𝐞𝐥 𝐒𝐮𝐫, a new step forward for local tourism that brings together passionate tour guides with one shared goal on promoting excellence, professionalism, and authentic storytelling that truly represent the Province of Surigao del Sur.

The program serves as a crucial step in promoting local tourism and ensuring exceptional visitor experiences. It also underscores the Provincial Tourism Office’s commitment to developing a skilled workforce and strengthening excellence in the tourism sector.

In preparation for the upcoming Palarong Pambansa 2026, to be held in Agusan del Sur, this initiative plays a significant role in ensuring that the province is ready to welcome delegates, athletes, and tourists from across the country. By equipping tourism frontliners with the necessary skills and knowledge, the province aims to boost its tourism industry and effectively showcase the rich natural wonders, cultural heritage, and warm hospitality of Surigao del Sur.

With empowered and well-trained tour guides, the province continues to move forward in its mission to position itself as a competitive and sustainable tourism destination in the region.
