The Provincial Economic Development and Investment Promtions Unit (PEDIPU) initiated a benchmarking study mission with Surigao del Sur Abaca Farmers Cooperative at FASRMCO Agusan del Sur, SIUFMULCO San Isidro, Agusan del Norte, and Green Fiber Project Sibagat, Agusan del Sur in support of GIZ with Senior Adviser Maria Aurora C. Laotoco, assisted by PhilFIDA Dir. Samuel M. Nacino, Jr. and ECOWEB Project Manager Nikki Rose D. Dapanas.

Participating in this benchmarking study mission were Ms. Myrna M. Opitan of Lanuza, Mr. Fernando Gerona of San Agustin, Ms. Letecia Malalis of Tandag City, and Mr. Pepito Trazo of Cagwait, the chairman of the Abaca Cooperative.

This mission aims to enhance the abaca industry in the province by improving cooperative consolidation and buying practices of the cooperatives to improve their services, ultimately benefiting members and local abaca producers.
