Provincial STI Stakeholders' Consultation Workshop The Regional Research, Development and Innovation Committee (RRDIC) in Caraga, a special committee under the Regional Development Council (RDC) is mandated to plan the regional R&D agendas, set regional policies and direction on research, development, and innovation and reflect these in the Caraga Regional Development Plan through Science, Technology and Innovation (STI). In line with this, PENRO-LGU attended the Provincial STI Stakeholders' Consultation Workshop for the crafting of Regional Research, Development and Innovation Agenda 2023-2028 represented by Xiara M. Lincuna-Environmental Management Services Chief Designate on February 6, 2023 at the PGO Conference Room, Capitol Hills, Tandag City. This was faciitated by the DOST-CARAGA headed by DOST XIII Regional Director Engr. Noel M. Ajoc and participated by all Planning Development Officers of the 19 LGUs and selected offices in the Provincial Government. Among the offices were PDRRMO, PPDO, PHO, OPAg and Tourism Office who actively participated the workshop thru a consultative session that would focus on assessing the research priorities addressing the needs of various sectors in the province of Surigao del Sur.

Zero Waste Month Celebration The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office-Local Government Unit (PENRO-LGU) under the leadership of the Provincial Governor Hon. Alexander T. Pimentel participates the River Clean-up Operation in line with the Celebration of the ZERO WASTE MONTH on January 31, 2023 bearing the theme "Stepping Up Solid Waste Management Through Efficient Extended Producer's Responsibility". This operation is a community-based activity under the River Care and Protection Program initiated by the City LGU of Tandag-Ecological Solid Waste Management Office (ESWMO) geared towards maintaining the cleanliness of Tandag River and enhance community awareness and responsibility to manage it. The River Clean-up Operation is subdivided into six (6) Clusters. PENRO-LGU was part of Cluster 3 together with PDRRMO-Medical Team, DENR-PENRO, DENR-CENRO Cantilan, PEMU, Rotary Club of Central Tandag, JPENHS, Tandag Diocese and Barangay Telaje as host barangay.

Public Hearing on Revised Revenue Code of LGU Madrid PENRO-LGU headed by For. Thelma S. Alcoberes duly represented by Asst. PENRO Mae Q. Sauro together with the monitoring officer attends the Public Hearing on the Toolkit of LGU Madrid based on the Revised Revenue Code on January 31, 2023 held at Social Hall, Madrid, Surigao del Sur. As part of the environment sector, the office was invited to shed light on the current environmental fee per trip on every quarry permittees for them to incorporate in their Toolkit. The said hearing was attended by no less than the Municipal Vice Mayor of Madrid Hon. Philip Urquia and SB Chair on Environment, Sangguniang Bayan Member Tindugan.

FILIPINO BRAND OF SERVICE EXCELLENCE TRAINING 02-09-23 The Department of Tourism (DOT) Caraga Region in partnership with the Provincial Tourism Office recently conducted the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence (FBSE) Training last February 9, 2023 at Uptown Corporate Hotel, Inc., Tandag City. The "Mabuhay Gesture" was introduced to the 50 participants from different tourism offices in the province including the Provincial Tourism Officer and staff. They were equipped with knowledge and skills in regards to excellent customer service by the legendary resource speaker, Mr. Richard Nick A. Amores. The Filipino Brand of Service Excellence is a program initiated by the Department of Tourism which is designed to promote the exceptional services in all tourism related establishments (TREs) in the country. Implementation of basic standards in the operations of the different TREs is essential in order to ensure an impressive and impactful quality tourism services. This Training is timely and relevant since we need to capacitate our tourism service providers in the province in delivering excellent customer service incorporated with Filipino Values. This training aims to help them acquire and apply the techniques of interacting with customers, optimizing sales, and handling customer concerns.

Orientation on the Guidelines for Fishcage Techno-Demo The Provincial Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Office - Extension Division conducted an orientation on the guidelines for fishcage techno-demo last February 16, 2023 to BIFA- Barobo Farmers and Fisherfolks Organization held at Rizal, Barobo, Surigao del Sur. The orientation aims to provide enough knowledge regarding the guidelines for fishcage techno-demo. The said activity was a success.
