PROJECT INSPECTION
The Provincial Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Office - Extension Services Division headed by Mr. Glenbert A. Galo together with the inspections team from Provincial General Services Office and Provincial Governor's Office conducted an ocular inspection on the three (3) Norwegian High-Density Polyethylene Type - Bangus Fish Cage Projects, located at Barangay Rizal of the Municipality of Barobo, Barangay Tidman of the Municipality of Hinatuan and Baybay 1, Poblacion of Bislig City, Surigao del Sur, last March 2 and 3, 2023. The visit aims to check and verify the installed fish cage/projects that would then be turned over to three (3) People's Organizations (P.O's) of the said locations.

CCAUSE 1st Quarter Meeting 2023- Technical Working Group
The Provincial Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Office, represented by Ms. Lucille B. Tero, attended the CCAUSE- Coastal Communities Alliance Unified for Sustainable Ecosystem - 1st Quarter Meeting intended for the technical working group last March 9, 2023 held at Ocean Point, Sitio Lawis, Banahao, Lianga, Surigao del Sur. CCAUSE is an alliance of ten (10) municipalities from Tago to Lingig. This alliance aims to manage, protect and sustain our coastal and fishery resources.

Fingerlings Dispersal
The Provincial Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Office-Fish Nursery Division conducted tilapia fingerlings dispersal to backyard fish farmers from Barangay Pakwan of the Municipality of Lanuza, Surigao del Sur and various barangays in the City of Tandag, last March 10, 2023. The program aims to help our dear constituents to start small business which can help them have a good and quality life by having a sustainable source of income.

Fish Examination by PFARO
Last March 18, 2023, a Fish Examiner from the Regulatory Division of the Provincial Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Office conducted fish examination as requested by the Municipal Agriculture Office of San Agustin, Surigao del Sur. The said examination will determine if the fishes were illegally caught through dynamite fishing which is probihited by law under section 92 of the Republic Act 8550 and as amended by Republic Act 10654. Appropriate actions were done by the MAO of San Agustin after the said examination proved it was indeed caught illegally.

Work Immersion - Senior High Students from Barcelona National High School
The Provincial Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Office under the Provincial Government of Surigao del Sur officially started the work immersion yesterday, March 22, 2023, intended for senior high school students who were given permission by their school to undergo an on-the-job training under the said department. The students will undertake trainings in acquiring technologies when it comes to aquaculture and also gain knowledge that may help them either to push through fishery course or venture into small business. This program of Provincial Government of Surigao del Sur - PFARO is made possible with its partnership with the Department of Education. The lucky school and senior high students who got the first slot for the 10-day work immersion came from the Barcelona National High School of Barangay Barcelona from the Municipality of Lingig, Surigao del Sur.

Market Denial & Fish Landing Inspection
In collaboration with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Office, the Provincial Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Office together with the City Agriculture Office, PNP-Maritime, Deputized Fish Warden and City Police Station of Tandag City, Surigao del Sur, conducted market denial in Luha Public Market located in Barangay Mabua and inspected the fish landing area located in Moonglow, Bag-ong Lungsod, last March 22, 2023. The said activity aims to inspect and check whether vendors sell fishes that are illegally caught through dynamite fishing or if there is any fishery products that has been sold despite being held by the law (CITES- Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species). The said activity ended well and all departments were contented after verification that all vendors abided the law.

1st Quarterly Conference of Provincial Assessor and Municipal Assessors of Surigao del Sur
LOOK: The Office of the Provincial Assessor (PAssO) spearheaded by Ms. Sabina C. Noguera, conducted a two-day activity entitled the “1st Quarterly Conference of Provincial Assessor and Municipal Assessors of Surigao del Sur” last March 23-24, 2022 at Lodestones Beach Resort, Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur. The activity was participated by the Municipal Assessors and staff of the seventeen (17) Municipal Assessment Offices throughout the province, together with the Division Chiefs and focal persons from the Provincial Assessor’s Office. The said event highlighted the updates and findings on the conduct of assessment audit and monitoring/valuation for the activities of the 2023 General Revision of Schedule of Market Values which was presented by the respective Project Monitoring Teams headed by Engr. Kay C. Miranda - Tax Mapping Division Chief, Engr. Richard C. Ombina - Appraisal and Assessment Division Chief and Ms. Liezel Climaco - Assessment Records Management Division Chief. On the same event, our distinguished Provincial Assessor, Ms. Sabina Noguera, highlighted the concerns raised in Real Property Tax Administration System and discussed further the flow of 2023 General Revision for smooth transactions. #BuwisNgaGibayranKalambuanNatongTanan

Provincial Consultation Workshop for FY 2025
March 29, 2023 - The Provincial Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Office, represented by Ms. Lucille B. Tero, participated during the Provincial Consultation Workshop for FY 2025 - Agriculture and Fishery Extension Needs held at Selades Apartelle and Convention Center, in Barangay Mabua, Tandag City. The activity was initiated by the Agriculture Training Institute (ATI) to solicit ideas and the needed trainings for those Agrictural/ Fishery Extension Workers (AEW's) of all LGU's from Carrascal down to Lingig as well as PLGU extensionist. Thus, it was a huge help in capacitating all AEW's to be more effective and efficient in rendering public services to our dear contituents of the Province of Surigao del Sur. The said workshop was a fruitful one indeed.

Culmination Program on Senior High School Work Immersion
The Provincial Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Office conducted a Culmination Program on Senior High School Work Immersion participants last April 4, 2023 at the PFARO Training Hall, Paradise Heights, Telaje, Tandag City. Twenty-one (21) students underwent Aquaculture Technologies training while fifteen (15) students undertook fish processing, cooking demo and bangus deboning lectures. These thirty-six (36) students from Barcelona National High School completed the said immersion successfully, for they have gained skills and knowledge specifically with the use of latest technology in fishery industry. Each of these students received their own Certificate of Completion - a requirement as graduating senior high school students of the abovementioned school. The PFARO would like to thank everyone for their trust in the office's capabilities in doing such activity.

Technical Working Group Site Assessment of Proposed Legislated Hatchery Site in San Miguel, Surigao del Sur
April 4-5, 2023- The Provincial Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Office together with the Bureau Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Office conducted a site assessment of a proposed legislated hatchery site in San Miguel, Surigao del Sur. The said site would become the first ever freshwater hatchery in the province of Surigao del Sur and soon would cater the seedling needs of the fisherfolks, at the same time, would also serve as a training site for basic learning. This would be a great help in the province's fishery industry.
