"Butchoy" - A Survivor Aural Hematoma "The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated."- Mahatma Gandhi August 24, 2022 -  A 3-year-old, weighing 16kg, Aspin dog named Butchoy was brought to the Provincial Veterinary Office due to the swelling and bleeding of its left ear. The owner, Ms. Linda Tubal, a government employee, shared that her dog was her good companion especially every time she goes to church. Upon examination done by Dr. Diosdado D. Derigay, Jr. of PVET, Butchoy had Aural Hematoma - a condition wherein a mass of blood acccumulates within a dog's ear flap. Dr. Derigay performed an immediate surgery to Butchoy and was able to drain the blood and pus from its ear. The surgery was a successful one and Butchoy was able to go home with home medication, particularly antibiotics and pain reliever.    #veterinarysurgery #auralhematoma #veterinaryservices #ProvincialVeterinaryOffice #SurigaodelSur

PSWDO-SDS celebrates 44th NDPR Week In accordance with the Proclamation No. 1870 (1970), as amended by Proclamation No. 361 (2000) and Administrative Order No. 35 (2002), the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office of Surigao del Sur celebrates the National Disability Prevention Week on July 29, 2022 with the Theme: “Pamahalaan Kabalikat sa Pagtupad ng Pantay na Edukasyon, Trabaho at Kabuhaya n, Tugon sa Pagpapalakas ng Taong may Kapansanan”, at Mabua Covered Court, Tandag City. The aim of the theme is to give recognition to differently-abled persons for their valuable contribution to society. The purpose of the celebration is to promote the inherent rights and concerns of people with disabilities by fostering cooperation and partnerships between and among the various sectors of Philippine society. It also aims to serve as a vehicle for information about programs being carried out by government organizations and organizations run by and for people with disabilities. There were series of competitions conducted like, sing solo competition, search for Ms. SDS PWD, and tiktok dance. There were also basketball wheelchair and seating volleyball showcase, meanwhile, free haircut and free manicure/pedicure were also availed by the participants. Moreover, awarding of wheelchairs to selected PWD’s in each municipality. PWD Chapter Presidents, PDAO, Focal Persons, and MSWDOs participated in the celebration from the following municipalities and cities: Carrascal, Cantilan, Madrid, Carmen, Lanuza, Cortes, Tandag City, Tago, San Miguel, Bayabas, Cagwait, Marihatag, San Agustin, Lianga, Barobo, Tagbina, Hinatuan, Bislig City, and Lingig. by Junie A. Province of Surigao del Sur Accorded the Green Banner Seal of Compliance for Nutrition On September 1, 2022 the Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET) of Caraga conducted a review of documents using the Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan and Implementation Pro tool for Local Government. The RNET concluded the 2022 MELLPI Pro activity based on Nutrition activities and accomplishments in the Province of Surigao del Sur for CY 2021 with an exit conference where the Provincial Nutrition Committee (PNC), whose chairperson Gov. Alexander T. Pimentel assured continued support and commitment to further improve the province's nutrition program. Moreover, the Provincial Nutrition Action Officer (PNAO), Ms. Miloniza Nieves-Serra, RND, expressed her gratitude to the PNC members and RNET. She welcomed the recommendations of the RNET based on the results of the evaluation. The Province of Surigao del Sur received an average score of 89.42% after two days of evaluation from August 31–September 1, 2022, making it a recipient of the Green Banner Seal of Compliance for Nutrition.   Congratulations, Province of Surigao del Sur!

Training on The Activities of CY 2023 General Revision of Schedule of Market Values of Real Properties and Special Conference of SUSMAA The Provincial Government of Surigao del Sur under the leadership of Gov. Alexander T. Pimentel through the Office of the Provincial Assessor (PAssO), conducted a two-day affair entitled "Training on the Activities of CY 2023 General Revision of Schedule of Market Values of Real Properties and Special Conference of Surigao del Sur Association of Municipal Assessors" last September 1-2, 2022 at the Gold Bar Hotel and Restaurant, Bag-ong Lungsod, Tandag City, Surigao del Sur. Respective focal persons of SMV, MAssO staff with their respective Municipal Assessors and the province-paid personnel under Job Order of the seventeen (17) municipalities participated in the said activity.  Governor Alexander T. Pimentel was duly represented by the Provincial Administrator, Mr. Esmeraldo Raymundo. Representatives from the Provincial Treasurer’s Office also attended to observe their presence and participation. Our esteemed consultant on General Revision and GIS Projects discussed the pre-field and field operations same with the training of personnel under Job Order for all activities related to the conduct of the 2023 General Revision of Schedule of Market Values of Real Properties. All chiefs from different divisions (i.e., Tax Mapping Division, Appraisal and Assessment Division, Assessment Records Management Division and Administrative Division) and the Provincial Assessor reviewed, finalized and disseminated the Implementing Guidelines of Ordinance No. 106-22 dated June 21, 2022 together with the Action Plan, which are both necessary for the conduct of the said project. #BuwisNgaGibayranKalambuanNatongTanan

Fly high, Sea Eagle! September 12, 2022 - The releasing of the Sea Eagle back into the wild was documented by the Provincial Veterinary Office. A concerned citizen turned over the Sea Eagle to PENRO-DENR last August 24, 2022. It was then brought to the Provincial Veterinary Office where Dr. Diosdado D. Derigay, Jr. conducted an initial physical examination. It was found out that the said eagle was physically weak and a close monitoring was necessary and recommended prior to its release. Finally, after two (2) weeks, Dr. Derigay examined the eagle's health again and verified that it was healthy and fit for release. Mr. Victor B. Sabornido-PENRO Officer of DENR, Mr. Jeff Dalton Ramirez-Ecosystem Management Specialist, Dr. Margarito La Torre of Provincial Veterinary Office, some personnel of BLGU of Bongtud and representatives from CENRO of Tandag City were present during the release of the Sea Eagle in the Linungao Island, Barangay Bongtud, Tandag where it finally able to fly again back to its forest home. #wildlifeconservation #seaeagle #SavingMotherEarth #ProvincialVeterinaryOffice #SurigaodelSur #DENR
