Benchmarking Activity of the Oversight Committee Assigned on the Revision of Revenue Code of the Province of Surigao del Sur
LOOK: The Provincial Government of Surigao del Sur, under the leadership of Governor Alexander T. Pimentel sends the Provincial Treasurer’s Office, Provincial Assessor’s Office, PENRO-LGU, and Tanggapan ng Sangguniang Panlalawigan to the Provinces of Dinagat Islands and Surigao del Norte, last August 31-September 2, 2022 for the Benchmarking Activity on the Revision of Revenue Code of the Province of Surigao del Sur. The said activity aims to share good public service practices especially when it comes to discovering new strategies to help improve and increase locally-sourced revenue. This is critical because the province’s share on National Tax Allotment will decrease the following year. Increasing the local revenue sources is one sure way to at least minimize the effect of the decrease of NTA share. Objectives were met and strategies were shared by those two (2) provinces mentioned above, like various approaches in collecting fees and charges. Ms. Fermina D. Palangpang, the Provincial Treasurer of Surigao of del Sur who is one of the speakers on the said event, believed that sound financial management of every local government unit is the key to improve the level and quality of local public services delivered to the people.
