Provincial Solid Waste Management Board Meeting
The Provincial Government of Surigao del Sur thru the leadership of our Governor Hon. Alexander T. Pimentel conducted the 4th quarter Provincial Solid Waste Management Board Meeting last November 4, 2022 at the PGO Conference Room, Capitol Hills, Telaje, Tandag City. Among the present Local Chief Executives were Hon. Marvin Azarcon, Mayor of LGU Lanuza; Hon. Elmer Evangelio, Mayor of LGU Lingig; Hon. Joey Pama, Mayor of LGU Barobo; Hon. Paolo Lopez, Mayor of LGU Madrid and Hon. Nicolas Alameda, Mayor of LGU San Agustin discussed on the updates of their commitment as to the establishment of Sanitary Landfill of the Clustered LGUs. Ms. Diane Rivera, EMB-CARAGA personnel was also invited to provide technical assistance regarding their proposed areas for the construction.

THE PHILIPPINE WEAVERS TOURISM & TRADE FAIR 2022
SURSUR was invited and joined with 2 IP communities namely IBUKA (Ibuan Buhing Kultura Association) BATAO (Bayogo Traditional Arts Organization) to the Philippine Weavers Tourism & Trade Fair at Technopark Hotel, Sta. Rosa Laguna which was initiated & facilitated by the Philippine Tourism Promotions Board. We made a mark with impactful participation of our intervention on cultural preservation to our Indigengous Cultural Communities (ICC).

Training on IUUF Mobile Application
In view of the on-going implementation of the Enhancing Results-Based Monitoring and Evaluation through Innovative ICT Solutions: Linking Upland Farmers to Market and Improving Municipal Waters, the Provincial Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Office, represented by Ms. Lucille B. Tero, participated the one-day training on Illegal, Unreported, Unregulated Fishing Mobile Application followed by simulation activities last November 15, 2022 at La Entrada, San Agustin, Surigao del Sur. The said training was initiated by CCAUSE - Coastal Communities Alliance Unified for Sustainable Ecosystem together with FAO- Food and Agriculture Organization as part of the efforts in keeping up and informing the upland farmers with any development and to combat the illegal activities in marine water.

Municipality of Hinatuan Barangay Nutrition Scholars, Nurses and Midwives completed 3-Day Infant and Young Child Feeding-Emergencies Training
The 3-day Infant and Young Child Feeding in Emergencies Training was completed by Hinatuan Barangay Nutrition Scholars and Department of Health- Center for Health Development- Caraga Human Resource for Health Nurses and Midwives on November 16–18, 2022, at the Old RHU Building, Hinatuan, SDS. Training was safely conducted and was attended by more than 50 BNS’s and health professionals despite of the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic. Highlights of Training from Day 1 to 3: Day 1 : A summary of IYCF-E, the significance of breastfeeding during emergencies, complementary feeding, and nutritional assessment during emergencies. Day 2: First 1000 Days Program, Barangay Nutrition Committee, Breastfeeding Support Group roles and responsibilities, and Breastfeeding Support Group organization. Day 3: The Provincial Nutrition Action Officer, Ms. Miloniza Serra,RND, spoke on the BNS Planning. Selected participants gave presentations on their plans for re-entry. The Provincial Governor's Office's Nutrition Division thanks Municipal Mayor Shem G. Garay ably represented by Ms. Rorafel Jabagat, RN -Municipal Nutrition Action Officer for their initiative.

FIRST AID & BASIC LIFE SUPPORT TRAINING FOR NEWLY HIRED EMPLOYEES
The Provincial Government of Surigao del Sur in coordination with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction & Management Office & Provincial Human Resource Managemement Office conducted the second leg of First Aid & Basic Life Support Training for Newly Hired Employees last November 14-16, 2022 at Alameda Farm, San Agustin, Surigao del Sur. The participants were given the theoretical knowledge and were made to apply it through return demonstration. Simulated activities were also given wherein emergency situations were assigned per group, and they were rated based on how they respond to it using the learnings they earned from the discussion. The significance of this training focused on helping and sustaining life until more precise medical treatment can begin. It is also one of the missions of the agency to equip the employees to become resilient and responsive to emergencies and disasters.

Surra Surveillance - Municipality of Cortes, Surigao del Sur
November 22, 2022- The Provincial Veterinary Office Surveillance Team led by Dr. Coney Galela, together with the Municipal Agriculture Office of Cortes headed by Mr. Gil Escalante, conducted blood sampling, vitamin supplementation, deworming and animal consultation to large ruminants, particularly carabaos of selected barangays from the Municipality of Cortes, Surigao del Sur. A total of 64 blood samples were collected and then brought to the Regional Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (RADDL) for laboratory testing. Provincial Nutrition Program Implementation Review (PIR) and Finalization of Local Nutrition Action Plan (LNAP) 2023-2025
The Program Implementation Review (PIR), which is being on November 23, 2022, at Shacene Pension House and Restaurant in Tandag City by the Surigao del Sur Provincial Governor's Office-Nutrition Division, aims to evaluate the degree to which interventions and targets related to nutrition that were undertaken, attained, and the anticipated results were realized. Representatives of the Provincial Nutrition Committee and municipal nutrition action officers participated in the events. Because of their dedication and fortitude in the face of the difficulties we experience in our line of work, we are grateful to our local nutrition workers.

VOW to end VAW!
On November 25, 2022, the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office of Surigao del Sur, under the direction of Governor Alexander T. Pimentel, launched the 18-day Campaign to End Violence Against Women. It started with a motorcade and ended with a quick program in the Provincial Capitol's lobby. Representatives from a number of offices and partner organizations, including the Philippine National Police, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, as well as media partners (TNTV6, Radyo ng Bayan, and PIA), attended. The newly recurring theme "UNiTEd for a VAW-free Philippines" highlights the enormous impact of collaborative efforts in the direction of a VAW-free Philippines. During her message, Ms. Hershe Lorenzana-Nuñez, the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer, emphasized that there is no excuse for violence. She continued by saying that everyone is accountable for ending violence against women and girls, not just a select few offices or organizations. She also encourages everyone to report violent crimes rather than keeping them hidden. Everyone is called to join this year's campaign and become an advocate. MADAYAW SURSUR PASIGARBO 2022
The successful “MADAYAW SURIGAO DEL SUR PASIGARBO 2022”, with the theme "Mapadajunon nu pagpadajag tu Pantawid Pamilya nu sumbanan tu talento," was organized by the Provincial Operations Office of DSWD Caraga in Surigao del Sur, under the direction of Neda R. Barrios, SWO IV/Provincial Link. The event recognizes Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya, Exemplary Children, Modelong Ama, and Modelong Parent Leaders who have persistently served others by being actively involved in their communities, upholding strong family ties, and exhibiting admirable Filipino values. The participants shaered inspiring stories about their lives, showcased extraordinary skills, and answered questions with unmatched wit during the event. Training on IUUF UAV Use and Application
The Provincial Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Office under the Provincial Government of Surigao del Sur participated the Aeromapper Talon Amphibious Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Training last November 22 to 25, 2022, held at Nature's Haven, Ganayon, Lianga, Surigao del Sur. The training was initiated by Food and Agriculture (FAO) of the United Nation together with the Coastal Communities Alliance Unified for Sustainable Ecosystem (CCAUSE-), in connection with the on-going implementation of the Enhancing Results- Based Monitoring and Evaluation through ICT Solutions. The CAAP-licensed trainers are all members of the Davao Drone Services. All participants were trained on how to use and maneuver the UAV with reference to surveillance, monitoring and combating with the Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing (IUUF) within the province.
