PSWDO Supports Skills Training to PDL in partnership with TESDA and BJMP PSWDO supports the provision of skills training to Persons Deprived in Liberty (PDL) in collaboration with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). The skills training will last for 26 days, from October 3 to October 28, 2022, at the SDSDJ Multipurpose facility. Twenty participants went through a series of lectures and demonstrations about how to prepare food through fermentation and pickling, which led to food processing. The trainer was from TESDA. The J.A.I.L. Plan 2040/skills training for PDL is aligned with the Training Induction Program (TIP) for NCII. After the training hours are finished, certificates will be given to the participants. The goal of the skills training is to provide the PDL with technical and vocational skills so they can start their own business or look for employment once they are released from incarceration. The PDL will become more competitive with other job candidates, which will boost their confidence. By combining the available resources in accordance with their programs and services, PSWDO, TESDA, and BJMP worked cooperatively to make the program implementation possible.   by Junie A. PSWDO Conducts BBMT and E-CLlP Enrollment for Former Rebels On October 24, 2022, at PPO, Social Hall, with the joint efforts of PSWDO, DSWD, PNP, and DILG, held an orientation program for former rebels regarding livelihood settlement grants and E-CLIP Enrollment. The activity is one of the E-CLIP procedures used to help former rebels reintegrate into society. Hershe Lorenzana-Nuñez, RSW, PSWDO, Megnon Alacaba, DILG, PCOL, Dennis A. Siruno, PNP, and Danica B. Del Rosario, DSWD were among the guests who graced the occasion and shared their messages of support for the former rebels to reintegrate firmly into the government's folds. Ms. Danica Del Rosario gave a talk on basic business management and then led a discussion about it. The participants received instruction on how to manage and sustain their suggested means of livelihood. The attendees were also given information regarding the implementation of E-CLIP in the Province of Surigao del Sur. After the discussion, the participants were given a certificate of participation, which was a requirement before they could get LSG support. The activity's last phase was enrolling former rebels in the E-CLIP program. The PSWDO staff conducted a series of interviews with thirty-three former rebels. It is crucial for the former rebel to sign up for E-CLIP in order to qualify for the program. Through the JAPIC certificate, the PNP had already verified all of the participants.   By: Junie A. Distribution of Hygiene kits, Toys, and School Supplies in Telaje and Sitio Saracag               The Provincial Social Welfare and Development office through Ma. Paula S. Gallardo, RSW, LCPC Focal led the distribution of hygiene kit and school supplies to the children of Telaje, Tandag City and  Sitio Saracag, Kauswagan, San Agustin, Surigao del Sur on September 6, 2022.                Anchored in the goal to share and augment technical assistance to local levels counterparts and equally important resource providers in the implementation and evaluation of social welfare and development programs and services in essence of multidisciplinary/interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary collaboration, the PSWDO distribute hygiene kits and school supplies to children ages 4-10 years old and conducted child friendly spaces through informative games, singing and dancing.                There were four hundred children received the items, two hundred from Telaje and two hundred in Sitio Saracag. The main objective of the distribution was to help the children cope up with the onset covid19 through hygiene kit and be able to assist them in their modular class. By: Junie A. Bapor, Jr., RSW

HAB Monitoring and Sampling Protocol Training The Provincial Fisheries and Aquatic Resources' technical staff attended a one-day training on Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB) Monitoring and Sampling Protocols at BFAR-Provincial Fisheries Office, Brgy. Otieza, San Agustin, Surigao del Sur last October 26, 2022. Said training was initiated by Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Office and participated by the different A.T- Fishery/ representative coming from the Municipalities of Carrascal down to Lingig. The said training on Harmful Algal Bloom or Red Tide is such a huge help to the participants as well as to the constituent of the different municipalities.

"Know Your Money" and "Financial Literacy" Trainings with Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Mindanao Regional Office The Surigao del Sur Public Library and Research Center (SDS-PLRC) sponsored a one-day Training on "Know Your Money" and "Financial Literacy: Managing Personal Finances and Security Features of the Philippine Currency" on October 26, 2022, held at SP Session Hall, Legislative Building, Capitol Hills, Telaje, Tandag City, Surigao del Sur. The resource speakers were from Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Mindanao Regional Office in Davao City, in the persons of Ms. Glizriel Rose Z. Quijada, Bank Officer II, and Mr. Ramonnetto S. Gervacio, Bank Officer II. They shared their prowess, particularly on the financial outlook.  The activity was participated by the employees of the different offices of the Provincial Government of Surigao del Sur with the full support of our Honorable Governor Alexander T. Pimentel, duly represented by Mr. Esmeraldo S. Raymundo, Provincial Administrator, and Honorable Vice Governor Manuel O. Alameda, Sr. also represented by Mr. Joel P. Avila, LLSO V.

PSWDO conducts distribution of Hygiene kits to PDL On October 27, 2022, the PSWDO team, under the direction of Mrs. Hershe L. Nuñez, RSW, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer, distributes hygiene kits to PDLs at BJMP, Telaje, Tandag City. SJO3 Adronico G. Plaza, OIC-BJMP gave the opening remarks before Mrs. Nuñez gave her message of inspiration to the participants. The distribution of hygiene kits to 64 PDL then took place. The PDL who undertook the 26-day food processing skills training program, in which the PSWDO served as the training's partner along with TESDA and BJMP, also had their culminating program held in the meantime. The aforementioned activity was founded on one of PSWDO's objectives, which is to increase protective, preventative, rehabilitative, and developmental social welfare services to the underprivileged, vulnerable, and disadvantaged populations within each LGU across the entire province. During the interview, Mrs. Nuñez made a point of saying, "Through this endeavor, the PDL will feel that the government is always ready to support them in their rehabilitation process.”   By: Junie A. PADMO - INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY UNIT'S CREATION OF DIGITAL SYSTEMS Provincial Administrator's Office - Information Technology Unit (PADMO-ITU) Accomplishment Report (October 2022)   As part of this month's breakthrough, the PADMO-ITU successfully created a digital system that aids our provincial government in streamlining its operations to provide efficient services to all Surigaonons.   REGISTRY OF DEEDS (ROD) • Queue Management System • -- Every Surigaonon who transacts in this office is registered in this system to keep track of and organize the waiting process. This will increase the efficiency of queuing while enhancing customer loyalty, service, and satisfaction.   PROVINCIAL TREASURER'S OFFICE • Electronic Statement of Receipts and Expenditures (eSRE) Reports • -- The system is designed to simplify tasks in data recording and protection of all expenditures of the province. This includes the Cashbook which monitors and tracks check issuances on a daily basis.   All of these systems were made possible through the innovation of PADMO-ITU without incurring expenses on the part of the provincial government, spearheaded by the provincial administrator, Esmeraldo Raymundo and his IT officer, Andrew Patrimonio under the leadership of our very supportive provincial governor, Alexander T. Pimentel.

PSWDO HOLDS PROVINCIAL ELDERLY FILIPINO WEEK CELEBRATION The Provincial Elderly Filipino Week Celebration was held on October 28, 2022, at Social Hall, Capitol Hills, Telaje, Tandag City, and was sponsored by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office through Mrs. Hershe Lorenzana-Nuñez, RSW, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer. The event's theme was Older Persons: Resilience in Nation Building. The celebration started with the opening remarks of Javier Abasolo, PFSCA Fed. President while Mrs. Hershe Lorenzana-Nuñez, RSW, PSWDO delivered the rationale of the activity. His Excellency, the Governor of Surigao del Sur Hon. Alexander T. Pimentel, ably represented by Esmeraldo S. Raymundo, Provincial Administrator gave his inspirational message. Meanwhile, Hon. Manuel O. Alameda, Sr. discussed the message of the celebration’s theme, on the other hand, Hon. Dr. Amando Layno, Jr, Saggunian Panlalawigan/Committee Chairperson for Senior Citizen delivered his inspirational message. The competitions for seniors citizens were song duet, cha-cha dance, and balak were the festival's main attractions. Representatives from each LGU developed their own presentations for each contest and participated. Additionally, TESDA volunteers provided free haircuts and health screenings for the elderly, while the Provincial Health Office, under the direction of Dr. Eric Ty Montesclaros, Provincial Health Officer, provided free wellness exams. The PFSCA and OSCA Heads were also given certificates of recognition by the distinguished guest. The celebration was attended in by the MSWDOs, OSCA presidents, PFSCA Presidents and Chapter Presidents from the municipalities and Cities of Carrascal, Cantilan, Madrid, Carmen, Lanuza, Cortes, Tandag City, Tago, San Miguel, Bayabas, Cagwait, Marihatag, San Agustin, Lianga, Barobo, Tagbina, Hinatuan, Bislig City, and Lingig respectively. PSWDO Admin Officers attends Year-End Council Meeting and CSC Updates On October 25–26, 2022, Divina C. Malabanan, AO III, and Haide V. Pangilinan, AA III, PSWDO administrative officers, attended the two-day Year-End Council Meeting and CSC updates at Ocean Point Beach Resort in Lawis, Banahao, Lianga, Surigao del Sur. Surigao del Sur Council, Inc. organized the event in collaboration with the Philippine Civil Service Commission. Roel T. Lim, Vice-President of the SDS CHRMI, gave the welcome message, and Mr. Ace R. Orcullo, Vice-President of the SDSCHRMI, then spoke. Mr. Zandroval B. Laganao, the SHRS, the CSC SDSF, and Director Director II of CSC SDS Aurora B. Mantilla, MPA, presented updates on PRIME-HRM (RSP). The treasurer's report and the president's report were on the agenda for the council business meeting, which was conducted the next day. PSWDO staff attends the Training on NELC and ECCD Assessment Tool Four PSWDO staff in the person of Ms. Paula S. Gallardo, RSW, Mrs. Sheila T. Arizobal, RSW, Mrs. Divina C. Malabanan, Ms. Haide V. Pangilinan, and Mr. Junie A. Bapor, Jr., RSW attended the Training on National Early Learning Curriculum (NELC) and ECCD Assessment Tool on November 3-4, 2022 at VCDU Convention Center, Villa Kananga, Butuan City. The training was hosted by the Department of Social Welfare, CARAGA, Region XIII. The training started with the opening preliminaries followed by the welcome address of Mari-Flor A. Dollaga-Libang, Regional Director, DSWD Caraga. The Lecture and discussion on National Early Learning Curriculum (NELC) was expounded by Ma. Aquilisa M. Ongleo, SWO IV, DSWD Central Office Standards Bureau. To further emphasized the policies and guidelines about the ECCD Assessment Tool, Ms. Ailey Cathy D. De Lumen, PDO III, DSWD Central Office, Standards Bureau gave the lecture about the Administrative Order No. 15 series of 2011 other known as “Guidelines for the Accreditation of Day Care Centers and Day Care Workers” The new ECCD assessment tool was also used to conduct the mock accreditation at the Villa Kananga Day Care Center. The simulation was designed to ensure that participants would be familiar with the tool's content and MOVs. The participants were requested to contribute their insights, along with any additional questions or clarifications, at the conclusion of the mock accreditation. While this was going on, Ms. Paula S. Gallardo, RSW, from PSWDO-SDS presented her experiences during her accreditation at CDC’s and CDW’s in the Province of Surigao del Sur. The attendees of the aforementioned course will collaborate with the DSWD, Caraga in their respective provinces to evaluate and accredit Child Development Centers and Child Development Workers. As deputized accreditors, they will also get a certificate of proficiency from the ECCD council.
