NEWLY HIRED EMPLOYEES' ORIENTATION SEMINAR 2022 The Provincial Human Resource Management Office conducted the Orientation Seminar for Newly Hired Employees of the Provincial Government of Surigao del Sur last October 11-12, 2022 at Shacene Pension House and Restaurant, Mabua, Tandag City. This was attended by thirty-eight (38) permanent employees appointed by Governor Alexander T. Pimentel from January to August of this year. This is part of the Onboarding Program of the Provincial Government of Surigao del Sur for newly hired employees that aims to equip the appointees with the basic knowledge on right conduct, privileges and other related subjects. Resource speakers from GSIS, PAGIBIG, SSS and Provincial Tourism Office were invited to give their individual talk on various topics that entail membership, insurances, privileges as well as on the tourism branding of the province, respectively. In-house speakers were also present to give discussion on leave laws, basic norms and conduct and the structure and direction of the provincial government.

Coordination Meeting among the Municipal, City and Provincial Engineers and their Staff A Three-day coordination meeting conducted among the Municipal, City and Provincial Engineers and their staff at Gold Bar Hotel and Restaurant, Tandag City this morning, October 19, 2022. The Provincial Government of Surigao del Sur under the leadership of Governor Alexander T. Pimentel, through the effort of the Provincial Engineer's Office headed by Provincial Engineer Eleuterio S. Cubero, Jr. conducted the meeting of minds together with the different Municipal and City Engineers of Surigao del Sur. This meeting is aimed to ensure a coordinated implementation of the various infrastructure projects of the Province. An inventory of provincial roads will be tackled and also an inventory of the road ID number from provincial to barangay roads.

INTER-AGENCY COLLABORATION The Provincial Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Office attended the People's Organizations Forum held at Barangay Bolhoon, San Miguel, Surigao del Sur last September 23, 2022 together with the line agencies. Each agency presented their respective services available to the public. The aforementioned office was duly represented by Ms. Lucille B. Tero who shared that PFARO offers site validation and fingerlings dispersal.  This was initiated primarily by the Civil Military Office together with the LGU-San Miguel through the Municipal Agriculture's Office intended to benefit the four (4) barangays namely: Bolhoon, Castillo, San Roque and Libas Sud.

Young Entrepreneurs of Surigao del Sur September 2022 - Fish Nursery Division, one of the Provincial Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Office's divisions, assisted and supervised the Tago Sustainable Association of Farming Enthusiast (TAGO SAFE), a people's organization from the Municipality of Tago, Surigao del Sur. The said organization has five livelihood projects namely Tilapia Production in Fish Cage, Bangus Production in Fish Cage, Fish Processing, Garunggan Culture in Nursery Pond and Oyster Farming and Processing. This organization consisted of young fishing farmers actively engaged in Aquaculture and are awardees during the provincial level competition of 2022 Young Farmers Challenge which qualifies them to join the Regional Level of the same competition.

Contingency Planning on Emerging and Re-Emerging Infectious Diseases for the Municipality of Lianga, Surigao del Sur The Provincial Government of Surigao del Sur through the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Mangement Office facilitated the training/workshop on Contingency Planning on Emerging and Re-Emerging Infectious Diseases for the the Municipality of Lianga, Surigao del Sur on October 18-21, 2022 at Grand Menseng Hotel, Davao City. The initiative of the activity is line with the Provincial Government of Surigao del Sur Programs under Resilient Communities (Responsabling Katawhan alang sa malig-ong Katilingban).

Three Day First Aid with Basic Life Support and Ambulance Operation Training The Provincial Government of Surigao del Sur through the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, facilitated the conduct of Three (3) Day First Aid with Basic Life Support and Ambulance Training for the Municipality of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur on October 19-21, 2022 at Shacene Pension House and Restaurant, Tandag City, Surigao del Sur. The training aims to enhance their first responders and healthcare providers for emergency situations, offer necessary help to the victim and boost confidence in saving lives.

Committee Hearing and 16th Regular Session of the 20th Sangguniang Panlalawigan of the Province of Surigao del Sur The 20th Sangguniang Panlalawigan of the Province of Surigao del Sur successfully conducted its Committee Hearing and 16th Regular Session on October 18, 2022 at the Legislative Building, Capitol Hills,  Tandag City. The Committee on Peace and Order and Public Safety, chaired by Hon. Ruel D. Momo, was called to order and discussed matters concerning the series of killings of IP leaders and members in the Municipality of San Miguel, Surigao del Sur. The Datus (IP Representatives/Chieftains) of LGU San Miguel were invited together with PNP personnel, and Philippine Army personnel of the 36th and 75th Infantry Battalions, all of the Province of Surigao del Sur. The Committee on Ways and Means and Taxation, chaired by Hon. Manuel O. Alameda, Sr., the Committee on Education, chaired by Hon. Conrad C. Cejoco and the Committee on Tourism, Culture and Arts and Heritage chaired by Hon. Jose Dumagan, Jr., were also called to order and tackled essential issues. Hon. Manuel O. Alameda, Sr. presided over the 16th Regular Session of the 20th Sangguniang Panlalawigan of the Province of Surigao del Sur with twelve (12) Sangguniang Panlalawigan Members present (2 SP Members were on Sick Leave) and declared a quorum. During the session, twelve (12) requests subject for approval were on First Reading and reffered to the appropriate Committee/s, and one (1) Ordinance and fourteen (14) Resolutions were approved.

Seminar-Workshop on Harmonizing the Investment Incentive Code and Updating the Investment Priority Areas (IPAs) The Office of the Provincial Economic Development and Investment Promotions Unit conducted a two-day Seminar-Workshop on Harmonizing the Investment Incentives Code and Updating the Investment Priority Areas (IPAs) last September 22-23, 2022 at Kaliguan Beach Resort, Cagwait, Surigao del Sur. This two-day seminar-workshop aims to harmonize the C/M/LGUs Incentives Code and Update the Investment Priority Areas (IPAs). It was participated by DILG Outcome Manager Ma. Lourdes C. Martinez, BLGF Regional Director Melvin Joy L. Yu, Acting Assistant Provincial Treasurer Benjo B. Acevedo, DTI -STIDS Marie Khristine A. Layno and C/MLGUs designated LEDIPOs.

3RD QUARTER - CONFERENCE OF PROVINCIAL ASSESSOR AND MUNICIPAL ASSESSORS OF SURIGAO DEL SUR C.Y. 2022 The Office of the Provincial Assessor (PAssO) spearheaded by Ms. Sabina C. Noguera, conducted the on-going two-day activity entitled the “3rd Quarterly Conference of Provincial Assessor and Municipal Assessors of Surigao del Sur” on October 19-20, 2022 at SCI Function Hall, SCI Building, Capitol Hills, Telaje, Tandag City, Surigao del Sur. The activity was participated by the Municipal Assessors and staff of the seventeen (17) Municipal Assessment Offices throughout the province, together with the selected staff from the Provincial Assessor’s Office under the Tax Mapping Division and Appraisal and Assessment Division headed by their respective Division Chiefs. The said event highlighted the updates and progress on the Geographic Information System (GIS) Data Build-up of the province and the evaluation on the recently conducted Real Property Tax Administration System (RPTAS) Training on the MAssO’s, Permanent and Job Order employees which was presented by the Systems and Plan Integrator and Development Corporation (SPIDC) Solutions Staff, our service provider. On the same event, our eminent consultant on General Revision and GIS Projects discussed the issues and concerns encountered in the Data Build-up in relation to Uniform Land Use Classification and other matters relating to the pertinent provisions of the Implementing Rules and Guidelines of Ordinance No. 106-22. Presentation of RPT Collection Efficiency for this quarter was being emphasized, too, to give credit to everyone including the Treasury Offices in sustaining the revenue generation of the province towards better local governance and efficient public service.
