Information Education Campaign (IEC) about African Swine Fever (ASF) and Bird Flu The Provincial Government of Surigao del Sur through the leadership of Gov. Alexander T. Pimentel, together with the Provincial Veterinary Office which was represented by Dr. Diosdado D. Derigay, Jr. as the Technical Resource Speaker, spearheaded the Information Dessimination on African Swine Fever (ASF) and Bird Flu last Nov 18, 21, 23 and 25, 2022 to different barangays of San Miguel, Surigao del Sur. The said IEC was initiated by Northeastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU) - San Miguel Campus. Many of the San Miguelnon farmers attended the said affair and were enlightened about the mentioned diseases. The 4-day information education campaign aims to help our livestock and poultry farmers with the proper approach should they encounter such diseases and also to promote awareness about the livestock and poultry situation within the province. #ProvincialVeterinaryOffice #SurigaodelSur #InformationEducationCampaign #ASF #BirdFlu

PGO- Nutrition joins the celebration of the 30th National Children's Month The National Children's Month 2022 event, organized by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, welcomes the participation of the Nutrition Division of the Provincial Governor's Office on November 29, 2022. Additionally, recited “Panatang Makabata” with the kids at Shacene Pension House and Restaurant's Grand Ball Room in Tandag City. Preschoolers were given Nutripaks, a nutritional supplement program created by our Provincial Governor Alexander T. Pimentel, as a way for the nutrition office to add grace to the event. National Children's Month is dedicated to helping children who have experienced abuse, poverty, natural disasters, and violence.

4th Negosyo sa Bayan Entrepreneurship Support and Development Training The Provincial Economic Development and Investment Promotions Unit led by Development Management Officer IV Ms. Marilyn T. Garol attended the 4th Negosyo sa Bayan Entrepreneurship Support and Development Training last November 27-30, 2022 at Mezzo Hotel, Cebu City. The training was hosted by the Philippine Trade Training Center-Global MSME Academy (PTTC-GMEA),and the Development Center for the Future Leaders (DCFL), Inc., with support from Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship-Go Negosyo (PCE-Go Negosyo). The 4-day training aims to provide participants guidance on how LGUs may be able to advance its own entrepreneurial ventures or strengthen its existing economic enterprise towards financial independence.

4th Quarter Joint Meeting of Provincial Nutrition Committee members and Municipal Nutrition Action Officers The 4th Quarter Joint MNAOs and PNC Meeting is held on December 1, 2022, at the Shacene Pension House and Restaurant in Tandag City. The 2022 Accomplishment, Program Implementation Review Report, and Nutrition on Holidays are the meeting's highlights. Ms. Miloniza N. Serra, RND, the Provincial Nutrition Action Officer, gave a presentation on the successes of the Provincial Nutrition Office from January up to present. This includes holding quarterly meetings, facilitating trainings, hosting radio interviews, and distributing dietary supplements like Nutripak for children who are severly underweight or underweight, and Maternal Milk for expectant women who are underweight. Ms. Rose Marie N. Pahit, RN, provided some holiday nutrition advice. highlighted the importance of moderation. Start your vacations off well with wholesome foods, including fruits and vegetables on your plate by using Pinggang Pinoy as an easy guide to transmit the proper dietary proportions, and work out while you're away from home. A short Christmas party celebration was conducted as part of the afternoon’s activities. The local nutritionists enjoyed the celebration more since they showcased their singing and dancing skills. In addition to, there was also an exchange present with a twist being played in the left and right game while Ms. Marilou A. Panilan told the story about the Christmas Parade.

Municipality of Tagbina Barangay Nutrition Scholars Refresher Course The 2-day BNS Refresher Course Training for LGU-Tagbina, Surigao del Sur, is conducted by PGO-Nutrition Office on December 5–6 2022. Mr. Warlito A. Untua, Municipal Agriculturist and Designated Municipal Nutrition Action Officer, Municipal Mayor Glaiza Jane P. Lanete, a representative of the Rural Health Unit, and 46 Barangay Nutrition Scholars were also present during the session. During the two-day program, PGO-Nutrition Staff under the direction of Ms. Miloniza N. Serra,RND, acted as Resource Speakers. After a gap of 20 years since their last training, the Barangay Nutrition Scholars are really appreciative to the good Mayor and Municipal Nutrition Action Designate for starting this program. Provision of Dietary Supplementation ( Nutripaks) for Severely Underweight Pre-school Children to Municipality of Marihatag and Barobo ’’Always Yes to first 1K days (AY1K): First 1000 Days Program’’ of the Province of Surigao del Sur headed by Honorable Gov. Alexander T. Pimentel. This program aims to provide nutritional supplements (Nutripaks) among identified pre-school children who are severely underweight. NATIONAL GAWAD KALASAG SEAL OF EXCELLENCE The Provincial Government of Surigao del Sur through the leadership of Governor Alexander T. Pimentel has received the NATIONAL GAWAD KALASAG SEAL OF EXCELLENCE for the C.Y. 2022, having an average of 2.61 or "BEYOND COMPLIANT". The awarding ceremony was represented by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer, Mr. Alex M. Arana on Decemeber 7, 2022 at The Manila Hotel, Metro Manila, Philippines. The concept of Gawad KALASAG was adopted while establishing the country's recognition program for various stakeholders who design and implement Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) programs that protect and shield high risk communities against hazards and render them more capable of addressing their vulnerabilities and coping with impacts of disasters.
