Seminar on Government Procurement Reform Act (R.A. 9184) and its Revised IRR and Updates
The Provincial Internal Audit Service Office staff spearheaded by Gabriel C. Falcon, Jr. attended the Seminar on Government Procurement Reform Act (R.A. 9184) and its Revised IRR and Updates conducted by the Association of Government Internal Auditors, Inc. (AGIA) at the Hotel Elizabeth, Baguio City on April 12-14, 2023. The seminar aims to capacitate the participants on the management of procurement activities in the government sector as provided for in the R.A. 9184 and its Implementing Rules and Regulations, facilitate in evaluating the outcome of the procurement process including compliance with laws and ensure effective and efficient operations in their respective areas of responsibilities. Attendees were government employees from different LGUs, SUCs and other private sectors.

Seminar/Workshop on the Institutionalization and Strengthening of the Internal Audit Function in Local Government Units (LGUs)
The Provincial Internal Audit Service staff led by our Internal Auditors attended the Seminar/Workshop on Institutionalization and Strengthening of the Internal Audit Function in Local Government Units (LGUs) conducted by the Association of Government Internal Auditors, Inc. (AGIA) at the Hotel Elizabeth, Baguio City on April 12-14, 2023. The three (3) day seminar is designed to present a complete overview of the Internal Control System (ICS) of an organization, enable the participants to understand the basic principles of internal auditing and its role in the internal control system and discuss issues and concerns on the institutionalization and strengthening of the Internal Audit Function in the Local Government Unit.

Disaster Risk Reduction and Management and Climate Change Adaption Orientation
LOOK: The Office of the Provincial Assessor (PAssO) spearheaded by Ms. Sabina C. Noguera, in partnership with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), conducted a three-day activity entitled the “Disaster Risk Reduction and Management and Climate Change Adaption Orientation” last April 28-30, 2023 at the Lodestone Beach Resort, Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur. There are many forms of imminent disasters that may strike us before we knew it. It could be natural or a man-made type of disaster. It is not enough to stave off the next disaster. We may not predict it but we can prepare for it. Being prepared can reduce fear, anxiety and losses that accompany disasters. Republic Act 10121 otherwise known as Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction Management Act 2010, intensifies for the preparedness of everybody in times of disaster either naturally or human-induced. As such, Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Orientation for PAssO employees is deemed necessary to have a common understanding on DRRM concepts that will guide the employees for a variety of emergency situations, persevere during this stage and recover afterward. #BuwisNgaGibayranKalambuanNatongTanan

PGO-SDS CART COMPLETES 2-DAY TRAINING ON RE-ENGINEERING LGU SYSTEMS AND PROCESSES FOR PROVINCES
The Committee on Anti-Red Tape (CART) of the Province of Surigao del Sur successfully completed the 2-day training on re-engineering LGU systems and processes for provinces conducted by the Department of the Interior and Local Government - Caraga Region on May 9-10 at the Grand Palace Hotel, Butuan City. The CART was represented by PENR Officer For. Thelma Alcoberes, PPDC Vilma Ronquillo, EnP, SP Secretary Edgar Perez, II, JD, PHRM Officer Ace Orcullo and CART Secretariat/Focal, SAO Carolina Tidalgo, EnP. The training seeks to capacitate members of the CART in streamlining LGU systems and processes pursuant to the provisions of RA 11032 otherwise known as the "Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery (EODB-EGSD) Act of 2018" which emphasizes the need to reduce bureaucratic red-tape and undue burden to the clientele. The recently concluded training is part of the month-long series of trainings conducted by the DILG XIII to further the implementation of the EODB-EGSD Act among LGUs in the region.

ORIENTATION SEMINAR FOR NEWLY HIRED EMPLOYEES 2023
Forty six (46) newly hired employees of the Provincial Government of Surigao del Sur completed the 2-day Orientation Seminar last April 19-20, 2023 at Shacene Pension House & Restaurant, Mabua, Tandag City. This is part of the employees' onboarding program that aims to equip new employees with the necessary skills, knowledge and attitude needed in the performance of their tasks in their respective working environment. Topics discussed were the following: An Overview of the PGSDS Vision, Mission & Mandate; PAG-IBIG Services to Gov’t. Employees & its Governing Laws and rules; GSIS Insurance Packages, Benefits & Privileges; Norms of Conduct & Ethical Standards (RA 6713); Leave Laws; SSS Services; PGSDS Tourism Brand This is a continuous program of the Provincial Human Resource Management Office to employees embarking new journey in the public service. In-house resource speakers were PHRM Officer Ace R. Orcullo, Assistant PHRM Officer Theresa E. Burgos, Ms. Michelle S. Pareja and Ms. Carolina R. Tidalgo, EnP. Invited speakers from other agencies were Ms. Rica Christine S. Beloy from PAGIBIG, Mr. Neiljoy P. Cafoforo from GSIS and Ms. Doris Gene L. Trujillo from SSS.

Capability Building Training for Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions Officers (LEDIPOs) in Surigao del Sur and Investment Briefing
The Office of the Provincial Economic Development and Investment Promotions Unit in collaboration with Department of Trade and Industry headed by DTI Provincial Director Romel M. Oribe conducted a two (2) day Capability Building Training for Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions Officers (LEDIPOs) in Surigao del Sur and Investment Briefing last June 20-21, 2023 at Cagwait Kaliguan Beach Resort, Cagwait, Surigao del Sur. The session was expertly facilitated by Board of Investments Supervising Investments Specialist Irwin Jayson Neri Jamaca and Board of Investments Senior Investments Specialist Keen P. Arseno. This capability building training aims to equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to attract investments, foster economic growth and create a conducive environment for business expansion. 25th CARAGA BUSINESS CONFERENCE
The Provincial Economic Development and Investment Promotions Unit (PEDIPU) and Surigao del Sur Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions Officers (SSLEDPO) participated the 25th Caraga Business Conference held at covered court, Gov. D.O Plaza Sports Complex, Prosperidad Agusan del Sur last August 10-11,2023. The 25th Caraga Business Conference, held under the theme "Caraga: Merging Opportunities, Harmonizing Capacities," was a remarkable event that brought together business leaders, government officials, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders from various sectors. The conference aimed to highlight the potential for growth and collaboration within the Caraga region, focusing on the idea of merging opportunities and harmonizing capacities.
