MARIHATAG

The Municipality of Marihatag is a coastal municipality in the province of Surigao del Sur. The municipality has a land area of 312.50 square kilometers or 120.66 square miles which constitutes 6.34% of Surigao del Sur's total area. Its population as determined by the 2015 Census was 18,518. This represented 3.13% of the total population of Surigao del Sur province, or 0.71% of the overall population of the Caraga region. Marihatag was part of the Municipality of Lianga and was later made part of the Municipality of Otieza by E.O 445 dated June 6, 1951. Executive Order No. 69 dated September 23, 1954, transferred the seal of the municipal government from Otieza to Marihatag. On June 10, 1955, 1261 renamed the Municipality of Otieza to Marihatag. Republic Act No. 3489 dated June 16, 1962 created the Municipality of Otieza and eventually separated the barrios of Salvacion, Otieza and Santo Niño.

Mahaba but when you reach the place, all your effort will be paid off. The water is green and you can see a lot of rock formations. In this case, you will be witnessing 2 falls in just one place.

  • <b class="font-bara"><i class="bi bi-geo-fill h4"></i> Amontay Resort and Fish Cage</b> <br/>Amontay is a coastal area. They have a fish cage that covered milkfish and lobster. It is one of the best spot for the sunset.

  • <b class="font-bara"><i class="bi bi-geo-fill h4"></i> Capugo Falls</b> <br/>The Capugo Falls has a 3 tiered falls and it is one of the biggest falls in the Marihatag. It has glowing clear water, surrounded with huge rocks and you can see there protruding rocks.

  • <b class="font-bara"><i class="bi bi-geo-fill h4"></i> PALASYO</b> <br/>This is away from the sitio. If you will visit there, the first thing that you can see outside is only the trees. But if you go inside, you can see the 3 old trees and 4 big rocks formation. In this place, you can also try a wall climbing using the roots.

  • <b class="font-bara"><i class="bi bi-geo-fill h4"></i> Pamuhanginan</b> <br/>20 minutes’ walk from Sabang and the way is not yet easy to reach the spot. It is a wide road lined with grass and shrubs and the occasional tall tree.

This place is the heart of Marihatag as the center of the tourist attractions. From the name itself, resort has full of trees, fresh air, it has grayish sandy-soil, sea foam color of water. This resort can make you unwind and relax because of the different trees that they have.
