Surigao del Sur is naturally advantaged. It is located in the northeastern coast of Mindanao facing the Pacific Ocean. It is approximately 300 kilometers in the length and 50 kilometers at its widest stretch.
It is bounded on the Northwest by the Province of Surigao del Norte; on the Southeast by Davao Oriental; on the East by the Pacific Ocean; and on the West and Southwest by the provinces of Agusan del Norte and Agusan del Sur. The Diwata Mountain Range lines the northwestern boundaries of the province.
Surigao del sur is a province of the infant CARAGA REGION.

The SURSUR Provincial Tourism Office successfully conducted the Tourism Cultural Night with the theme: "Sayaw sa Bulawanong Kultura" held last June 16, 2023 at the SDS Sports Center, Tandag City. The participants were the 17 Municipalities and 2 Cities of the Province. Through mesmerizing dances, soul-stirring music, and captivating performances, Surigao del Sur's Cultural Night transported the audience to a world of cultural wonders. The Department of Tourism XIII in partnership with SURSUR Provincial Tourism Office as per request of Adela Serra Ty Memorial Medical Center conducted the Training on Filipino Brand of Service Exellence held las June 5 and 6, 2023 at the ASTMMC Audio Visual Room and SCI Function Hall, Tandag City. Thanks to the DOT Regional Office for making Adela Serra Ty Memorial Medical Center the first Hospital Recipient of the said training.
