| 1. Carrascal | Pahinungod Festival | July 14th -16th (every after 2 years) | Fiesta is a religious activity. It is a Filipino tradition in honor of the Patron Saint of a certain place. People prepare sumptuous food for their visitors. Organizations hold activities to liven up the celebration. But some people forget the real essence of the event. Some persons overlook the true meaning of celebrating the fiesta. Thus, Pahinungod came to birth. This is a Mardi Gras which is performed around the streets of Carrascal. | 2. Cantilan | Sirong Festival | Every 14th day of August | It started as a religious movement in Cantilan. Its birth was an Act of Piety and the presentation became part of the amusement and also an observance of the faithful of Cantilan in honor of God thru the Patron Saint during the fiesta. Sirong connotes action. It means fencing, it attempts to widen one’s experience and strengthen his power, his needs to communicate, to survive, to secure recognition and status. It depicts the alarming incidents of the marauders of the past, now being revived as fiction and as local cultural history. | 8. Tago | Kasuba-an Festival | Every 23rd of August | Kasuba-an is derived from Tagon-on word ‘suba’ which means river, Tago is abundantly blessed with rivers or suba. One of the famous rivers of Tago is Tago River. Historically and even up to present, Tago River plays a vital role in the lives of every Tagon-on. With the use of baroto, pump boat or gakit, the people from different barangays bought their products to the municipality in order to sell or exchange goods or barter, trading of goods usually transpired at the ‘suba’ or river of Tago. It is through this that the festival of Tago is being conceptualized and named after the word ‘Suba or river’ for since time immemorial Tago River has been the life blood of the Tagon-ons. Ordinance No. RP-04 series 2018 duly approved the Municipal Mayor on March 30, 2018 officially adapted Kasuba-an Festival as the official name of the festival of Tago. | JERRY R. Barobo | Sarapang Festival | Every October 24th | Sarapang Festival is the official name of the festival of the Municipality of Barobo by virtue of Municipal Ordinance no.4,s 2017.The word Sarapang is a Kamayo term referring to the traditional tool used by the native Barobohanons in hunting and fishing.The etymology of the word Sarapang is deeply rooted from the Manobo word Sapang, a tool specifically used for hunting wildboars. However, innovations were made by the early Kamayos of Barobo where they invented the Sarapang, a three-pronged spear made out from Bagakay ( family of Bamboo) used in catching various species of fishes that even now are still abundant in the area. Hence, celebrating the annual Sarapang Festval serves as an avenue for Barobohanons to commemorate their histo-cultural roots, to recognize the efforts made by its founding fathers, and to showcase the richness of their place in marine biodiversity and tourism potentials | LEL NESTER S.
